TWO Sinn Féin politicians have said they will not be deterred by “faceless cowards” after receiving threatening phone calls.

West Tyrone MLA Barry McElduff and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council member Stephen McCann revealed they had received calls on Wednesday afternoon, including one in which the caller allegedly warned “blood would be spilled”.

A call was made to Mr McElduff’s home in Carrickmore and others to the Sinn Féin office in Omagh.

The MLA told the Irish News he had spoken to the PSNI over the matter, while councillor McCann said:

“For us in Sinn Féin, unfortunately this is nothing new. Our message is clear – we won’t be deterred from the work we have been elected to do by faceless cowards.”

A PSNI spokesman said: “Enquiries are ongoing into reports of comments made in telephone calls to staff at a political party office in Omagh, and an individual, on Wednesday.”
