AFTER disappointing their legions of fans on Tuesday night, One Direction were ready to put on a show.

The screeching of young girls and teenagers will leave you with a headache worse than any hangover.

And it never stopped.

There were squeals for the support act Jamie Lawson.

More squeals for a 1D video calling for world peace.

Louder squeals for the safety video.

And then when the fourth place X-Factor finalists came out you could barely hear Clouds being performed.

Niall Horan had a guitar for all of the first song but replaced it with a tricolour decorated microphone for Kiss You.

To my surprise there was a live band playing with the boys so props to them for real music.

They sounded breathless on a few songs so odds are they were singing live.

Liam was looking well after having to cancel due to illness the previous night, and in fact it was Louis that looked a bit peaky.

Liam did apologise to the crowd for cancelling although it was to the wrong audience.

The crowd went wild (well, noisy) for the 80s pop rock feel of Midnight Memories, where Niall accessorised with another guitar and the live band was hidden behind a screen.

There was little need for Harry, Louis, Niall and Liam to sing Story of My Life as the crowd was louder than their sound system.

It was disappointing that the SSE closed up all the kiosks by 9.30pm and it was also worrying to discover programmes which cost £15.

Westlife had stools for their ballads; One a Direction have a bike rack.

The boys all sat on different parts of a random ramp for the ballad section of the night.

Niall was joined by two more guitarists on stage. It sounded like one was called Jamie Dornan but it was not the actor. Unfortunately.

Even in the digital age of smart phones and iPads, young girls continue to flock to see boybands. Somethings are a constant. And even once 1D go their separate ways, the boyband love will keep going.
