Police probe link between incidents

A HOME in west Belfast was targeted in a distraction burglary after a man claimed he was there to check water pipes. The man called at the door on Lawnview Street shortly before 11am on Saturday and was allowed in by a female resident.

She realised when he left that boxes in one of the rooms had been moved, although it is not believed anything was taken.

Shortly afterwards police were told that the back door of a house in Leopold Gardens had been smashed and the property entered and ransacked. Again it is not thought anything was taken.

A householder on Old Westland Road also said a man wanting to check water pipes had tried to gain entry to the property before 11am, but was refused.

Police said they were investigating a possible link and appealed for information.
