Botched attempt to steal ATM

THIEVES used a digger to try and steal a cash machine from a petrol station in Co Armagh yesterday.

The thieves smashed the digger into the side of the petrol station on Dobbin Road in Portadown at about 3.30am yesterday.

After the thieves realised they could not steal the ATM, the driver of the digger set it alight.

The driver and two other men then made off in a white van.

Police said they believed the digger was stolen from a building site on Killyman Street in the village of Moy on Wednesday.
