A QUANTITY of fertilizer has been removed for examination after a van was stopped during a security operation in Co Tyrone.
Police officers stopped the white transit van on the Corbally Road, two miles outside Fintona, shortly before 2am yesterday and detained two men aged 33 and 45.
Several homes were evacuated during the major security operation while the area was searched.
A follow-up operation involved police and British army bomb disposal experts using remote controlled robots.
Residents also reported seeing flares lighting up the fields surrounding the Corbally Road during follow-up searches.
A quantity of material was taken away for detailed examination.
The two men arrested are being questioned at Antrim serious crime suite.
