North less populous

MORE people are now leaving Northern Ireland than coming into it.

Statistics released yesterday reveal that the north's population has increased by 0.5 per cent to 1.824million people.

The figures from the show that from July 2011 to June 2012 there were more births (25,300) than deaths (14,200).

But for a second year, migration to the north has fallen with more people leaving.

There was an estimated net loss of 1,300 people due to migration. In total 23,300 people came here to live and 24,600 people left.
