Fortnite has begun its New Year celebrations with players seeing a huge fireworks display filling the virtual sky of the battle royale game.
Players have been reporting a giant glitterball, countdown and huge fireworks display overhead during gameplay, as the hugely popular game continued its habit of staging large-scale events inside the Fortnite universe.
After some players began reporting and sharing video of their encounters with the fireworks on social media, Epic Games vice president and co-founder Mark Rein confirmed the display would continue to appear as the new year was celebrated around the world.
It’s already New Years Eve in the Christmas Island, in the country of Kiribati and it will soon be New Years Eve in Fiji. https://t.co/pJKMaPIatB
