Fans of The Great British Bake Off have shown their forgiveness for judge Prue Leith after she accidentally revealed the series winner ahead of time.
The cooking pro, who was new to the Channel 4 show this year, tweeted a congratulatory message mentioning the victor’s name before Tuesday night’s final showdown.
She later apologised and blamed the mishap on the time difference between the UK and her location at the time in Bhutan.

But the broadcaster made a light-hearted response to the gaffe, even cracking a joke on the programme’s official Twitter account.
It posted a homemade GIF of finalist Steven slumped in frustration against his oven with the caption: “When you find out a spoiler for your favourite show…”
The quip was not lost on show fans, with one viewer responding: “Oh dear ?? Poor Prue. Glad I’ve managed to avoid hearing what the spoiler was today and can still find out live.”

Another said: “I was so mad. Not at Prue – think it was a genuine mistake. But at all the other idiots who have mentioned it at every opportunity.”

Meanwhile, one joked: “Fair play for giving plenty of bants about it. #Doh or should that be #dough?”

One even suggested that Leith’s accidental reveal was a good thing, commenting: “I quite like spoilers in both TV shows and tennis matches. Easier on the nerves. Yup, I’m a wuss.”

The show’s account also shared a cheeky image of a winking goat to check that viewers had remained “spoiler free”.

Leith, who has hosted alongside Paul Hollywood and presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig in the programme’s first outing on Channel 4, also announced on Tuesday that the full team will return for another series.
