Politicians kissing babies and pretending to do some gardening...it must be election season

Photocalls seem to get weirder and weirder.

ICYMI, there’s going to be a general election pretty soon, and that means one thing: politicians doing all kinds of things for photocalls.

Sure, there’s a lot of other stuff going on during the campaign (like politics and whatnot), but this is one of our favourite things about election season. We feel almost a bit sorry for politicians having to do so many random things for the cameras.

SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon launched her party’s council manifesto at the Whale Arts Centre in Edinburgh with the classic political move of kissing a baby.

But this isn’t all she did: she also did a bit of gardening with a miniature trowel.

We’re not sure how practical those shoes are for gardening, but each to their own.

Sturgeon also had a whale of a time watering some plants.

In a more high heel-appropriate activity, Sturgeon also did a spot of sewing.

We doubt this is the last adorable baby or pretend gardening we’ll see in the build-up to the local elections in May and the general election on June 8.
