So nice in fact that this March is looking like it’s going to be one of the hottest on record, and much nicer than the last two Marches we had in 2015 and ’16.

And the best bit? It’s set to get even nicer still before the month is over.
The record for the warmest-ever March was set in 1968 at a lovely 25.6C in Cambridgeshire.This year’s high of 19.9C, measured at Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands on March 26, isn’t quite there yet – but it’s set to get a lot closer in the coming days, with predicted highs of 22C forecast in the London area, 20C in Norwich and 18C in Bristol and Nottingham.Plus it’s already greater than the maximum temperatures reported by the Met Office for March 2016 (18.7C) and March 2015 (17.4C).
Met Office forecaster Alex Burkill explained: “We are dragging up really warm air from Iberia and with relatively calm conditions in the South East that’s what is allowing temperatures to climb quite high.”However, all this nice dry weather has to come to an end (this is the UK after all) so expect a showery start to the weekend across the whole of the country.Get those waterproofs out.
