An animatronic leopard has been scaring passers-by in London this week to raise awareness of threats to the endangered species.

The beast was placed in the streets of London and growled at people walking past.

The main threat to leopards is the destruction of 90% of its natural habitat, forcing them into Indian cities and into conflict with humans.

Nat Geo WILD unveiled the leopard as the channel launches its seventh annual Big Cat Week, in association with charity the Big Cats Initiative. A special programme will show how leopards and humans co-exist in Mumbai.
