Nigel Farage thinks it’s just a matter of time before Ukip’s only MP Douglas Carswell is given the boot from the party.
It’s no secret that Farage and Carswell have not seen eye-to-eye for a long time but the latest swipe from the former leader plunges the party into even more chaos than it was already in.
The comments came at the launch of a new paper looking into the impact of Brexit on the fishing industry called The Brexit Textbook on Fisheries – which we’re sure you’ll agree sounds like a real page-turner.
It was Farage’s unreserved remarks afterwards that have really got people talking. Speaking after the event, he said: “It’s not just me. A lot of people have been saying it, and saying it for a very long time.
“We nearly got rid of him back in 2015 when he sabotaged all my efforts at the European summit.
“We didn’t quite have the nerve to do it. I suspect now the party will.”
He also accused the MP of being a “posh boy”, which is something people on social media are really struggling to comprehend.
Ex Tory, Millionaire, public school educated, ex-commodities broker, living in £4m Chelsea pad Farage calls Carswell a Tory posh boy!? pic.twitter.com/PAPj3dPN77

Farage went to Dulwich College, is former Conservative, & worked in City as commodities broker, and yet brands Carswell 'Tory posh boy'??!?

Farage actually having a go at Carswell for being a posh Tory. One ex-Tory private school banker to another. State of that.

Just to make matters worse for Carswell, major millionaire Ukip donor Arron Banks has suggested he is ready to stand against him in the 2020 election.
Good , we will have a high street shop in Clacton , professional agent appointed soon and I will be rolling my sleeves up. https://t.co/FCmm5RE3Pu

Which is also something the public have taken issue with.
Carswell is an elected MP, unlike Banks and Farage. Making them "enemies of the people" according to their own abyssal standard. https://t.co/DRXALfcIN8

UKIP are right, Douglas Carswell isn't a man of the people, where as multimillionaire Aaron Banks who literally has bank in his name…

And so the chaos continues.
