POLESTAR, the China-based electric car maker related to Volvo, says it will put the stunning Precept into production.

There's no lack of hyperbole attached to the project, which Polestar says is a "commitment car, not a concept car" and a "manifesto" for the future.

Emphasising its eco-credentials is the use of recycled bottles, reclaimed fishing nets and recycled cork vinyl in the interior.

"Consumers want to see change from this industry - not just dreams," said Polestar boss Thomas Ingenlath.

"Now, Precept becomes an even stronger statement. We are committed to reduce the environmental impact of our cars and our business.

"The aim has to be climate neutrality, even though I recognise that is a long-term goal."

It will be a while before the Precept hits the road - the factory isn't even built yet.

Meanwhile, the company is busy meeting the demand for its rather excellent Polestar 2, which is a direct rival to the Tesla Model 3.
