FERRARI marks its 70th birthday in 2017, and as part of the celebrations the marque has come up with 70 different liveries which customers can order on each of the five models in its current range, writes William Scholes.
It's the sort of thing you can get away with when you are Ferrari and have as long and as storied a history as it enjoys, and there will doubtless by customers who have to have one of each. Or maybe even all 350 possible combinations...
The inspiration for all 70 colour schemes is detailed at Ferrari.com, but to whet your appetite here are the stories behind just five.
:: 'The Stirling', shown here on an F12, is inspired by the 250 GT Berlinetta SWB, winner of the 1961 Tourist Trophy with Stirling Moss at the wheel. It sports Blu Scuro racing livery complete with horizontal white stripe and number roundel.
:: 'The Schumacher', shown here on an 488 GTB, is a homage to the F2003-GA Formula One car in which the legendary German driver won the 2003 F1 drivers' championship and the Scuderia that year's constructors' crown.
:: 'The Steve McQueen', shown here on a California T, is inspired by the 1963 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso - one of the most elegant Ferraris ever built - which was a gift to the American actor from his first wife, Neile Adams. It features brown body paintwork and a cabin in camel leather.
:: 'The Green Jewel', shown on a 488 Spider, gets the green livery of the 365 P2 fielded by the British David Piper Racing team. Piper was a regular and very well-known Ferrari privateer and drove the car to victory in the Nine Hours of Kyalami in both 1965 and 1966 and, in 1966, in the prestigious Trophee d'Auvergne at Clermont-Ferrand.
:: 'The White Spider', shown here on a 488 Spider, is inspired by the 1953 375 MM bodied by Pinin Farina. It features three-layer Bianco Italia paintwork.
