Eat more... Avocado to improve heart health

A US study found people who ate at least one avocado a week had a 16 per cent lower risk of cardiovascular disease (the umbrella term for all types of diseases that affect the heart or blood vessels) and, specifically, a 21 per cent lower risk of blocked blood vessels compared to those who rarely or never ate avocados, reported the Journal of the American Heart Association.
Avocados contain fibre and monounsaturated fat, which have been linked to heart benefits.
