Co Antrim’s iconic Dark Hedges is among the world’s ‘most beautiful streets’ according to a top American publication.

The famous birch trees loom over the Bregagh Road outside Ballymoney, and in recent years have enjoyed a boom in popularity thanks to featuring in hit TV show Game of Thrones.

The exposure in the gory fantasy drama has now resulted in the road being ranked alongside famous avenues and lanes including the majestic Champs-Elysees in Paris, and the winding Lombard Street in San Francisco.

Architectural Digest Magazine compiled their top 10 most beautiful streets in the world and ranked the Dark Hedges at number seven, ahead of the aforementioned Parisian route, and Amsterdam’s pretty Brouwersgracht canal.

Streets ahead of the hedges, however, were the stunning Cherry Blossom Avenue in Bonn, Germany; Rue Bin Souaki in the blue painted Moroccan town of Chefchaouen; and the multicoloured homes in Buenos Aries’ La Boca neighbourhood.
