THE first easyJet flights from Belfast International to Hurghada in Egypt and Southampton have got off the ground.

The Southampton service started on Sunday October 29, operating three times a week on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays.

And flights to Egypt’s scuba-diving hotspot of Hurghada took off on Tuesday October 31. They will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Flights are available to book from today on easyJet.com and via the easyJet app starting from just £20.64 one way.

EasyJet’s UK country manager Ali Gayward said: “We're delighted to have launched our first flights from Belfast to Southampton and Hurghada for the winter.

“They provide our customers with more choice and great value for their winter holiday, whether they are chasing the winter sun, visiting friends and family or exploring more of what the UK has to offer.”

Graham Keddie, managing director at Belfast International Airport, added: “Southampton is a most welcome addition to our GB route network, strengthening our overall connectivity right across the UK.

“And Hurghada is already proving to be a popular winter sun destination. We are delighted to be able to work alongside easyJet to bring further choice to local travellers.”

The airline launched services from Belfast International in 1998, and since operating its first flight to London Luton, easyJet (wwweasyJet.com) has remained committed to the airport and customers in Northern Ireland by maintaining a continuous operation.
