Here's a look at the key components to be that man or woman:

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Economic development/inward investment and trade promotion - An understanding of key national/international economic drivers and sectors likely to impact NI’s future economic development. Detailed knowledge and understanding of both trade/inward investment promotion and regional/international economic development.
  • Executive management/board level experience - Significant recent (within eight years) experience at corporate governance level of the development and implementation of strategic plans, within either a private or public organisation, with a strong reputation for robust professional standards, sound financial management, good governance principles and high performance.
  • Transformational leadership - Recent experience in leading and driving effective and positive transformational organisation change, culture and inclusivity in a complex environment. Clear evidence of developing and coaching senior teams, inspiring staff and harnessing the strengths and talent of employees at all levels.
  • Commercial acumen - Astute commercial acumen with a proven recent track record in driving business change and growth. The ability to oversee substantial budgets at senior level and knowledge/understanding of current appraisal and financing techniques applied to major business projects.
  • Relationship management and communications - Recent experience of developing strong strategic relationships with a range of customers, partners and stakeholders. Exceptional communication skills and proven ability to effectively influence decision-makers/stakeholders at the highest level and across a range of sectors. Recent experience of skilfully and successfully navigating across a complex, fluid political environment to deliver results through collaboration and partnership working.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Extensive proven recent track record of leading on the formulation and delivery of place-based strategies and polices within the economic development context.
  • Recent experience of working with UK, NI or RoI government departments.
