Kane Group land £43 million Canary Wharf contract

BANBRIDGE construction firm Kane Group has secured a £43 million design and build contract with Canary Wharf Contractors to deliver a major project in London.

The three-year contract at Wood Wharf is due to commence in April 2023.

It consists of 760 buy-to-rent residential units along with six guest suites across two towers, which stretch to 34 and 49 storeys.

The project also includes the development of new retail and amenity space, including a gym, working from home lounge, evening lounge, games room, multi-media room and dining rooms.

Kane previously delivered the £24m Southbank Place project on behalf of Canary Wharf Contractors.

The Banbridge firm’s managing director, Cathal McMullan, said: “Kane are delighted to have secured this MEP residential scheme on behalf of our Client, Canary Wharf Contractors.

“We will utilise our in-house prefabrication expertise to deliver off-site construction solutions on this project.

“Our experienced and innovative project team look forward to working on this central London project.”

It comes just weeks after Kane reported significant growth in 2021/22.

The family-owned mechanical and electrical services contractor saw turnover grow from £44.9m to £65.5m in the 12 months to March 31 2022.

Its gross profit increased from £7.4m to £12.2m, and after tax and expenses, its retained profit shot up from £2.4m in 2021 to £4.7m last year.
