LIDL’S former supermarket on Derry’s Buncrana Road has gone on the market for £950,000.

The 17,685 sq ft premises was vacated by the German retailer over the summer following the completion of a new £8 million ‘superstore’ at the nearby junction of Buncrana Road and Springtown Road.

Located on a route populated with Donegal traffic, the vacated supermarket site includes 80 car parking spaces amid a mix of retail and industrial units.

According to the sales brochure: “The property is suitable for showroom, health and beauty and medical uses, subject to any necessary planning consent.”

Lidl’s new store in Derry, which opened at the end of July is first of three new concept-style supermarkets it has planned for the north-west. New stores are being developed at Crescent Link in Derry and in Strabane.
