BELFAST-based global agri technology company Devenish has expanded its business operations into Australia and New Zealand.

The company, which employs 750 people at sites across Ireland, the UK, USA, Turkey and Uganda, where it carries out pioneering research and development in health and sustainability throughout the food chain, has been working within the Asia Pacific region for many years.

But it has significantly increased its presence in the market with appointment of Russell Trainor as area manager for Australasia, responsible for driving business, sales growth and managing key accounts there.

Devenish International managing director Ian Atterbury said “Russell's appointment will spearhead our growth within the Australasian market.

“With a diverse background in animal agriculture, biotech and financial business analysis, he brings a range of skills and experience which make him well placed to help further grow our business in the region.”

Russell said: “There are a number of commonalities shared between the Australasian region and Devenish’s home markets of the UK and Ireland.

“We share a focus on consumer and animal friendly solutions, as well as a passion for profitable sustainable farming practices which includes research and development work into carbon neutral farming.

“Devenish is already collaborating with several leading Australian businesses, and we look forward to further developing these relationships going forward.”

Devenish leads pioneering science-based research and development that focuses on improving animal health and welfare without the use of antibiotics, and as part of its global growth strategy, it continues to increase its presence in new international markets, most recently filling new roles in South Africa.
