DERRY-based e-learning specialist Learning Pool is eyeing growth across the Atlantic.

The company has announced the immediate appointment of its first vice-president for North America. Sharon Claffey Kaliouby will be charged with guiding the e-learning group’s expansion into the United States and Canada.

The appointment of the former head of global learning and development at Boston-based financial services giant State Street, follows Learning Pool’s acquisition of HT2 Labs last summer. The deal included the Oxfordshire-based learning company’s offices in Boston.

“I can’t wait to play a leading role in the company’s conversation with customers here in the US and Canada," said Ms Claffey Kaliouby.

“Learning Pool has a unique value proposition in a crowded learning technologies market and I hope to make a significant contribution to the ongoing development of both our business and the industry.”

Duncan Shores, Learning Pool’s chief commercial officer, said: “Sharon has held several high profile executive roles in learning and development with the likes of State Street Corporation, Thomson Reuters and Enterprise Ireland.

“We’re delighted that she’s chosen to join the Learning Pool family as her next career step and believe that she’ll be a great advocate for the analytics-led, personalized workflow learning we’re delivering in collaboration with our customers.”
