Sofa retailer's revamp creates 20 jobs in Belfast

TWENTY retail jobs are being created in Belfast with the opening this weekend of a new interiors destination at Boucher Road.

Sofa manufacturer and retailer DFS and its partner brands dwell and Sofa Workshop launch the new space following a major redesign.

Sofa Workshop is a premium retailer of exclusively British-made furniture operating 31 stores while dwell, which is arriving for the first time in Ireland, sells stylish, modern furniture, lighting and home accessories online and from 36 stores, mostly collocated alongside DFS showrooms.

DFS is the UK’s largest and most profitable sofa retailer and brings 50 years of upholstery expertise to the north.

The company's Ireland manager John Kelly said: “We're thrilled to be investing further in Northern Ireland. To date our consumers have responded well to the DFS in-store experience and the expertise that our DFS sales teams can offer as sofa experts, to help them find their perfect choice.

“By trading through four retailer brands - DFS, dwell, Sofa Workshop and Sofology - we are able to offer tailored customer propositions, with each brand business unit appealing differently to targeted customer segments.

“To offer customers great value for money and to grow our profitability, we are working to reduce costs through collaboration across our group, in particular by benefitting from the scale of DFS.”

DFS (www.dfs.co.uk) hand-crafts tens of thousands of sofas every year at its three factories and two wood mills in Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, and is the biggest sofa manufacturer and retailer in Europe.
