AWARD-winning food and drink from almost 30 Northern Ireland producers is being showcased at London’s iconic Borough Market for St Patrick’s week.

The 10-day showcase, which opened yesterday, is being organised by Food NI, in association with Invest NI, and follows a successful presentation over St Patrick’s week last year.

A host of producers, many of which have been successful in the annual Great Taste Awards and other regional, national and international awards are on show in London.

The showcase also features cookery demonstrations by celebrity chef Paula McIntyre using the region’s products.

Michele Shirlow, Food NI chief executive said:

“We are delighted to be returning to Borough Market in 2019 after our first and hugely successful presentation last year. Companies taking part last year found it a hugely rewarding initiative last year in terms of sales and the contacts they developed that led to ongoing business at the market.

“We found shoppers keen to sample and buy the products and also to talk to the people producing them. Borough Market is an ideal platform for producers to reach out to discerning food shoppers in London and from further afield.

Darren Henaghan, managing director of Borough Market, believes the event will show just how much more Northern Ireland has to offer in terms of its "range of premium produce with real provenance”.

“Borough Market is a world class food market offering a diverse range of high quality national and international produce – and we’re delighted to welcome guest traders from Northern Ireland to offer our visitors the chance to buy the best food and drink from this award winning destination,” he said
