FORMER Dragons' Den star James Caan has made his first foray into Ireland with the backing of a Belfast-based recruitment company.

Hayward Hawk, a specialist technology recruitment firm, was established this year by Richard Waterson and Stephen McDowell.

The two consultants joined forces with Mr Caan, who has joined the firm as chairman in the firm, pledging his support to speed up expansion.

Mr Caan has already invested a six-figure sum in the business, and with his backing, Hayward Hawk have accelerated growth plans, opening offices in Dublin and London, while also creating a number of jobs within Belfast for experienced consultants, and graduates.

“It’s people who breathe life into business, not products or services. Hayward Hawk understand this, which is how they’ve managed to grow so rapidly and why I’m so pleased to support this passionate, talented team. I’m looking forward to working with Hayward Hawk, enhancing their brand as specialists in the market but more importantly, enhancing employment opportunities in Belfast," said Mr Caan.

Associate director of the business Anthony Stuart added: "When I was initially approached by Richard and Stephen, with an opportunity to come on board to a forward thinking recruitment startup, I was very excited. With James Caan, one of the top names in recruitment, lending his support and expert mentorship, it was something I just had to be a part of."

Hayward Hawk hopes to grow to more than 30 consultants by 2018, creating new jobs in Belfast city centre.

Mr McDowell added,: "At Hayward hawk, we know that Belfast has been crying out for a new, innovative and dynamic technology recruitment firm. We’re here to provide that and we’re passionate about people, so we want our consultants to achieve success, be specialists, and enjoy the rewards that will bring."
