RECRUITMENT firm Cpl is expanding in Northern Ireland - with plans to take on at least eight new staff over the coming months.

The company already has offices in Belfast and Newry has recently opened a third in Derry.

But with a global client base, Cpl's recently appointed chief executive in Northern Ireland Aine Brolly said it had plans for further growth.

The group is headquartered in Dublin and has 36 offices operating across nine countries.

Earlier this year, the company took over London-based Clinical Professionals Ltd, a leading UK based pharmaceutical and life sciences recruitment company.

Ms Brolly said the firm would consider further acquisitions as it aims to grow market share but expected "strong organic growth also".

The Derry office opened at the Northern Ireland Science Park in the city last month.

"It has gone really well and we have already won 10 clients," she said.

"We are focused on growing in the north-west where we see potential for digital creative jobs, engineering, technology and finance."

With a background working with Invest NI in the United States, Ms Brolly said she expects Derry to play a bigger part in future foreign direct investment projects in the north.

"We have already seen some bigger announcements there recently and I think that is something that we'll see more of in the future as Belfast becomes more saturated," she said.

"The Derry office is our first presence in the north-west. We are an all-island company so will be looking at opportunities around Derry and Donegal."

With 22 consultants currently employed by Cpl in the north, Ms Brolly said it was hoped that number would rise to 30 next year.

More jobs are expected to be added in Derry while the company is also planning to move to new premises in Belfast.

Currently based on Adelaide Street in Belfast, Cpl will be taking over new offices at Ann Street in the city centre in a move designed to increase its brand awareness.
