THE television watchdog is inviting applications for licences to run two new channels in Northern Ireland. Ofcom is calling for interest in stations for Derry and Limavady. They are two of 11 locations across Britain and Northern Ireland in line for new channels. A further 19 local TV licences have already been awarded including for NvTv in Belfast. The new local TV services will be available on channel eight on the Freeview platform in the north. Closing date for applications is January 7.
