TG4 received a whopping eight nominations at the annual Celtic Media Festival received Awards announced last week.

The festival will take place – physically for the first time since 2019 – in the beautiful city of Quimper in Brittany from 7 - 9 June.

However, there is enough to keep us glued to the TV screens this month, on television or on the TG4 Player.

After three years in Belfast, the TG4 Gradam Ceoil is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a specially-commissioned programme, live from Dublin’s National Concert Hall, in which the TV station recognises and celebrates our traditional singers and dancers.

Paddy Glackin, Diarmuid Ó Meachair, Connie O’Connell, Edwina Guckian, Dolores Keane and Sarah Ghriallais are amongst those receiving awards while the new Group Award goes to Skara Brae in a programme which will be broadcast on Easter Sunday.

:: Staying with music and Glasgow’s famous Celtic Connections festival will be given the Dónal O’Connor treatment when he welcomes a diverse musical cast to perform exclusive musical sets and joins them in conversation.

The series started last night but continues for the next three Sundays.

:: In An Fód Deireanach, Presenter Manchán Magan explores our complex relationship with the peatlands of Ireland.

It takes viewers on a visually spectacular, informative and entertaining tour of the secret treasure of Ireland’s landscape.

Ireland is a bog superpower, we have the third largest amount of surviving peatland in the world. It is part of our culture and heritage; but these biodiverse habitats are under threat.

The series starts on Thursday, 7 April.

::  If it’s a  movie you’re after on Easter Monday, Finky stars Dara Devaney, and Diarmuid de Faoite.

Micí Finky, a musician and puppeteer, steals an envelope full of cash and runs off to Scotland with his childhood friend Tom Tom.

On their first night in Glasgow, Finky suffers a horrible accident and is left paralysed from the waist down. He hits rock bottom but is given a chance at redemption when recruited by Carnival Chaotica.
