The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan shared a new photo from his hospital bed on Saturday, as the 65-year-old has been receiving ongoing treatment for a series of health issues.

The photo showed MacGowan posing with his friend, sound engineer Tom Creagh, on the occasion of Tom's birthday.

In the image, MacGowan is seen wearing a hospital gown and a nasogastric tube is also visible.

"Happy birthday to the great Tom Creagh a living legend and a wonderful friend," MacGowan warmly captioned the Instagram photo.

Last Christmas, MacGowan was hospitalised for encephalitis, which is a rare and serious condition that causes swelling in the brain.
