Rick Astley announces Irish dates

POP veteran Rick Astley has announced a pair of Irish dates on his tour for next year.

The Never Gonna Give You Up star will play dates at The SSE Arena in Belfast on March 4 and Dublin's 3Arena on March 5, with special guests Scouting For Girls.

The tour will be in support of Astley's new album Are We There Yet?, which will be released on October 6 along with a new single, Dippin' My Feet.

The singer recently impressed the crowds at Glastonbury with his set of Smiths covers, for which he was backed by indie rockers Blossoms on the Woodsies Stage, as well as a well-received appearance on the main Pyramid Stage.

Of the new album title, Astley says: “Now, that phrase has multiple meanings. Are we there yet in my musical ambitions? Am I done with my career? Have we arrived? Or are we still travelling?” 

Tickets will go on sale at 9.30am on Friday July 14 via Ticketmaster.ie
