U2 HAVE revealed more details about their upcoming run of dates celebrating Achtung Baby in Las Vegas.

In a new interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Bono and The Edge take a tour of the new purpose-built The Sphere at The Venetian music venue which they will launch with their U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere dates in September and October - the band's first ever shows without drummer and founding member Larry Mullen.

"The idea behind U2 was always to make the worst seat in the house the best seat in the house," Bono tells Lowe.

"This changes the whole dynamic on that."

"This is the dream, there's nothing like it - it's lightyears ahead of everything that's out there."

The special run of shows which start on September 29 will belatedly mark the 30th anniversary of the band's 1991 watershed/landmark album Achtung Baby and will be U2's first without Larry Mullen Jr, who is unable to tour as he is recovering from surgery on his back.

He will be replaced by Bram van den Berg for the US dates at The Sphere, which has a capacity of 20,000 and employs high resolution wrap-around LED screens and thousands of speakers designed to deliver a multi-layered audio experience to every seat.

"There are no 'speakers' - the entire building is a speaker," enthuses Bono.

"So, 'wherever you are, you have perfect sound', is the plan."

The new U2 live show is also set to feature a screen 20 times larger than the one used during their Joshua Tree tour in 2019, – the last time U2 performed live.

The full list of dates are Friday September 29 and Saturday September 30, Thursday October 5, Saturday October 7 and Sunday October 8.
