ARMAGH'S annual 7 Hills Blues Fest returns with a host of world-class talent at more than 30 venues and locations across the cathedral city.

Now in its sixth year, the festival runs from August 11 to 14 and promises four days of music, entertainment, food and fun.

The event has become established as one of the great blues and roots music events in Ireland and Britain.

And this year's programme includes a line-up of 57 acts including a range of internationally-renowned musicians and bands.

Among them are Amanda St John, Mirenda Rosenberg, Dave McHugh, Ronnie Greer, Tony Villiers, Pat McManus, The Watery Hill Boys and Rab McCullough.

There are also a host of foodie events planned over the weekend in many of Armagh's top restaurants and cafes.

A 'BBQ 'N' Blues' event at The Shambles Yard on Sunday includes a selection of street food and local apple juice and ciders to enjoy among the groovy summer tunes.

Saturday's Picnic in the Palace Park hopes to combine fun and games with the best blues talent for an enjoyable afternoon set in the Friary ruins.

Two workshops have also been organised for budding blues musicians aged between eight and 18 to learn more about instruments such as the harmonica, guitar and drums.

Those who want to explore the city can avail of guided walking tours planned for during the festival.

Lord mayor of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Garath Keating said: "Every year, the city of Armagh welcomes thousands of music fans, solo travellers, groups and families to enjoy an unrivalled line-up of music and activities guaranteed to enthral.

"A real gem for the summer, the city is buzzing with the best music, craic, hospitality and countless things to do, creating a real feel-good factor in the city."
