THE latest block of Charlie Brooker's excellent anthology show Black Mirror landed on Netflix just before the New Year.

If you haven't yet found the time to blast through these six new stand-alone dramas exploring the increasingly complicated human/technology interface, you should really do so at your earliest convenience.

Having binged on the first five instalments throughout this week, I can report that the fourth series of Black Mirror maintains the high standards of its previous seasons while also taking full advantage of the bigger budgets bankrolled by Netflix to push the show forward in terms of enhanced production values and cinematography.

The twisted, Star Trek spoofing virtual reality tale of USS Callister makes for an excellent series-opener, while nightmarish stories like the Jodie Foster-directed Arkangel (tech-enhanced parenting goes horrifically wrong) and Crocodile (memory-scanning tech pushes a guilty Andrea Riseborough to lethal extremes) will stay with you long after you've switched off the telly.
