Dave Chappelle Netflix comedy specials

FANS of first class stand-up comedy will currently be getting excited over the news that top US comic Dave Chappelle has signed a deal with Netflix to bring three new stand-up specials to the screen.

Having killed it as guest host of Saturday Night Live earlier this month with a dynamite opening monologue covering the fallout from the US elections – "I haven’t seen whites this mad since the OJ verdict" – the attitude of newly wealthy black Americans to President Obama's social welfare policies – "Aw nigga, I just got this money!" – and how his historical impact as the first African American President cannot be underestimated – "This is the first black dude that ever heard America's secrets. I’m happy he lived" – it seems like the Washington DC funnyman is back in fine form following a long time away from TV.

His Netflix deal is reportedly worth a cool $60m and will find Chappelle delivering one brand new comedy special in addition to two shows recorded live on tour at Austin City Limits Live in April 2015 and the Hollywood Palladium in March this year.

Currently slated for a simultaneous release next year, the new Netflix specials will be the comedian's first in 12 years.

Might they also be considering a revival for his much missed Comedy Central sketch comedy vehicle, Chappelle's Show?

We live in hope.
