1. When did you think about acting as a career and what were your first steps into it?

I have been acting since I was 14, starting with small roles with DubbelJoint Theatre Company in the summer holidays. I don’t think I really knew that I wanted to pursue it as a career until I was leaving school. I started chasing work in Belfast and haven’t looked back.

2. Best gigs you've been to?

James Blake Under the Arches in London was a real stand-out experience. He is such an emotive performer and the venue was really intimate. Also seeing Indie band The xx at Massey Hall in Toronto was fantastic. And I can’t leave out Bruce Springsteen in Dublin. He is the best live performer I’ve ever seen.

3. Fantasy wedding/birthday party band?

It would be a toss up between Arctic Monkeys or Fleetwood Mac.

4. The record you’d take to a desert island?

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.

5. And the book?

The Rum Diary by Hunter S Thompson. I’ve read it several times and it never loses it’s brilliance.

6. Top three films?

This changes all the time depending on my mood but at the moment I would choose Stand By Me, Un Prophète and Metro Manilla.

7. Favourite authors?

I’ve only recently started reading Haruni Murakami’s stuff– he is a genius. I also enjoy Karl Ove Knausgaard and James Joyce.

8. Ideal holiday destination?

I really want to visit Japan. Also lounging on a beach in Rio sounds good.

9. What’s your favourite:

Dinner? Garlic chilli and prawn linguini.

Dessert? Anything with dark chocolate and salted caramel.

Drink? When we were in Johannesburg filming on Jadotville I discovered a South African wine called The Chocolate Block. It's like nectar.

10. Who is your best friend and how do you know each other?

My nephew Sean. He is hilarious and incredibly chilled out. I wish I was as cool as he is at his age.
