Dogs rescued from ‘extremely unsanitary conditions’ in Armagh

An investigation has been launched after a “significant” number of dogs were rescued from a property in Armagh.

Police said the animals were found to be living in “extremely unsanitary conditions” on Thursday.

The dogs were removed from the property following a report made to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon district council.

In a statement, a PSNI spokesperson said: “This morning officers from B Section accompanied Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon animal welfare and environmental health teams, to assist in the rescue of a significant number of dogs from a property in the Armagh area.

“These dogs were living in extremely unsanitary conditions.

“Thankfully these dogs will be taken to a kennel, where they will receive the love and care they deserve.

“If you have any concerns about the living conditions or welfare of any dogs in your area, please report it to your local council.”



A council spokesperson said: “Officers from ABC council’s animal welfare and environmental health teams were supported by PSNI officers at a property in the Armagh area yesterday morning (May 2) where a number of dogs were taken into council possession following expert veterinary advice.

“The investigation is still ongoing.”
