The rain looks to have come in time for Zarinsk in the featured Brownstown Stakes at Fairyhouse on Wednesday evening.

Ger Lyons' charge is probably versatile enough ground-wise but her best form has come with plenty of give.

She was a good winner in testing conditions when taking the Cornelscourt Stakes at Leopardstown in May and beat a good field in that Group Three contest.

The runner-up Tarawa was a fine fourth in the Irish 1000 Guineas subsequently while the third horse, Aspen Grove, won a Grade One in the US recently.

American Sonja would appear her biggest danger in tonight's Group 3 contest and given the fact that she was fourth behind her last time it looks hard to oppose Zarinsk on all known form.

Aidan O'Brien runs four in the seven-furlong contest in the hope of picking up valuable black-type and Dower House is probably the pick of them but needs to improve on recent form.

Cigamia is the better of the two older fillies in the field and commands respect having been a good second on her return in a listed contest at Navan last month.

Zarinsk ticks all the boxes though and should prove the class act.

The bookmakers are unlikely to take too many chances with her though and better value may lie elsewhere on the card.

In the following handicap over the same seven-furlong trip Hotrocket may be able to follow up on his cosy success at Gowran Park last month.

The Starspangledbanner gelding stumbled coming out of the stalls then but soon recovered to track the leaders and kept on strongly in the closing stages to post a comprehensive two-and-a-half length win.

A 9lb hike for that victory looks fair enough and the lightly raced four-year-old still looks open to improvement.

He won his maiden over course and distance last year and track form is always a plus.

The Caribbean may be able to make the breakthrough now in the six-furlong juvenile maiden on the card.

He was turned over at a short price on his last visit to the course but bumped into a decent sort in Prince X J.

His experience could be a big asset now against a field where the maidens could be the main dangers.

Aidan O'Brien fits blinkers on the No Nay Never colt and Killian Hennessy also takes 5lb off his back to aid his chances.
