DOWN have announced a new U20 management team with Burren clubmen Neil Coulter and Paul McCartan joining experienced Frank Dawson at the helm of the current Ulster champions.

Senior manager Conor Laverty is still expected to remain involved with the U20 team but the day-to-day running of the Mourne youngsters will be left to McCartan, Coulter, who guided the Burren U20s to the county title on Friday night, and former Antrim football manager Dawson.

After seeing off Tyrone, Down U20s beat Derry 2-11 to 0-9 in the Ulster final last year. The Mournemen seemed on course for a place in the All-Ireland decider when they led Kildare in a thrilling semi-final at Parnell Park which the Lilywhites won with the last kick of the game. Seven of the Down team that started that game and several of the substitutes remain eligible for U20 competition ext year.
