CLIFTONVILLE maintained their march towards five trophies this season, joining Sion Sifts in the final of the NIFL Women's League Cup, after demolishing Linfield at Solitude.

The Reds took no prisoners and showed no signs of damage from last week's league defeat to Crusaders in a stunning 6-1 victory over the Blues.

If the north Belfast reigning league champions breezed through their semi-final, Sion were made to work much harder the short distance across the north of the city at Seaview, edging a tight encounter 1-0 over Crusaders.

The results of the two semi-finals have produced a repeat of last season's league cup final, which the Tyrone side claimed an unexpected victory, winning 2-0 after extra time.

After scoring both the goals in last year's showpiece, it was danger-woman Cora Chambers who struck the all-important winner against Jonny Tuffey's side to earn her side a spot in the final.

At Solitude, Tone Leigh Finnegan opened the scoring for Cliftonville with a peach of a free-kick. Captain Marissa Callaghan doubled the lead with a neat finish at the back post and Caitlín McGuinness helped herself to the hosts third after beating the goalkeeper, all before half-time.

Abi Magee scores from the edge of the box via the crossbar for number four and Fi Morgan netted a header for the fifth.

The Blues' main goal-threat Keri Halliday scored a consolation for the visitors, but that's all it was to be as Vicky Carleton smashed home a sixth to complete the scoring for the Reds and give them the perfect build-up for Sunday's Avenir Cup semi-final with Cork City at Solitude.
