ENGLAND'S Joe O'Connor will be Mark Allen's opponent in the last 16 of the World Grand Prix in Cheltenham on Wednesday evening.

The Leicester player beat China's Lyu Haotian 4-2 on day two of the event on Tuesday, while Allen had enjoyed a win by the same score over David Gilbert on Monday.

Masters champion Trump beat Hossein Vafaei 4-2, while runner-up Williams beat fellow Welshman Jamie Jones 4-1 with the help of three century breaks.

Another Welshman, Ryan Day, was also a 4-1 winner, beating England's Ricky Walden.

Ronnie O'Sullivan and Ding Junhui both enjoyed whitewash victories over Barry Hawkins and Stuart Bingham respectively, while Mark Selby was the most high-profile player to fall, beaten 4-1 by Noppon Saengkham.
