ENGLAND'S Joe O'Connor will be Mark Allen's opponent in the last 16 of the World Grand Prix in Cheltenham on Wednesday evening.
The Leicester player beat China's Lyu Haotian 4-2 on day two of the event on Tuesday, while Allen had enjoyed a win by the same score over David Gilbert on Monday.
In Tuesday's other games, Masters finalists Judd Trump and Mark Williams showed no ill-effects from their exploits in Sunday's final at Alexandra Palace, both progressing to the last 16.
Masters champion Trump beat Hossein Vafaei 4-2, while runner-up Williams beat fellow Welshman Jamie Jones 4-1 with the help of three century breaks.
Another Welshman, Ryan Day, was also a 4-1 winner, beating England's Ricky Walden.
Ronnie O'Sullivan and Ding Junhui both enjoyed whitewash victories over Barry Hawkins and Stuart Bingham respectively, while Mark Selby was the most high-profile player to fall, beaten 4-1 by Noppon Saengkham.
