THE partner of a woman who sustained leg injuries in a petrol bomb attack in east Belfast said the couple had "lost everything".
James Moffett's girlfriend, who did not wish to be named, was in the house at Clara Street when at least two petrol bombs were thrown inside at around 11.30pm on Sunday.
She was taken to hospital after sustaining leg injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening, but later released.
Mr Moffett said he saw two men running down the street with petrol bombs in the minutes before the attack.
He said the men smashed a downstairs window before the devices were ignited and thrown inside causing extensive damage to the property.
Speaking to UTV News Mr Moffett said: "I don’t know who they were, they weren’t people I knew".
"There were two guys running down the street with petrol bombs, (they) smashed my window, looked in at my girlfriend and threw a petrol bomb at her and it burnt her leg.
"She’s in agony."
Mr Moffett, who said his partner was staying at his mother's home, said he has no idea why they were targeted.
But he said that he has lost everything and no longer felt safe living there.
The couple have said they will now leave the area.
"I'm getting out of here...it's a terrible place," he said.
Police are appealing for information and say a motive has yet to be established.
However, loyalists in the area have denied there was any paramilitary involvement in the attack.
Alliance Party leader Naomi Long said: "There can be no excuse for this senseless violence. Lives could have been lost if the fire had spread to adjoining houses.
"I send my best wishes for a speedy recovery to the woman injured".
