I WRITE in relation to the issue of the insignia on prison officers' uniforms (hMP) and the prefix hMP at prisons in the six counties. Sinn Fein, when they sold away their republican credentials in the Good Friday Agreement, failed to demand that the prison service remove all references to the crown, as they did with the RUC. As a result of this Catholics in the north are reminded that a foreign queen and her millions keep us incarcerated in our land. It's time for the prison service in the six counties to fall into line with that other occupying force, the PSNI, and remove all obvious references to a foreign crown.
