A man in his 30s has died after the van he was driving collided with a wall in County Cavan.

Gardai in Cavan attended the incident on the R194 at Finaway, between Ballyjamesduff and Killyfassy Cross, just before midnight on Saturday.

Units from Cavan and Baileboro Garda stations went to the scene along with ambulance and fire services.

The man, who was the only person in the vehicle, died after the van left the road and struck a wall.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Cavan General Hospital.

Traffic diversions were put in place on Sunday morning on the R194 between Ballyjamesduff and Killyfassy Cross to allow for a technical examination to be conducted by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardai have appealed for any witnesses to come forward citing reference PR20882/2023.

They also asked for anyone with video footage, including dashccam, from the R194 at Finaway, between Ballyjamesduff and Killyfassy Cross, around the time of the collision to make this available to them.
