Strictly Come Dancing star Angela Scanlon has described the bandages on her feet as “a bit modern art”.

The Ratoath-born TV presenter, 39, showed off the elaborate support, made up of bandages and plasters, on her left heel in a video on her Instagram story.

She joked: “It feels quite Sarah Lucas [the contemporary English artist], a bit modern art vibes.

“There’s a lot going on here but I think it works.”

Her partner Carlos Gu agreed, saying: “It actually gives very abstract modern art.”

For their movie week routine this Saturday, the duo will take on the Charleston to the song Who’s Got The Pain, which featured in the 1958 rom-com Damn Yankees.

Directed by George Abbott and Stanley Donen, the film was an adaptation of a Broadway musical, which was itself based on the 1954 novel The Year The Yankees Lost The Pennant by Douglass Wallop.

In the 1958 movie, Tony award-winning actress Gwen Verdon and US actor and choreographer Bob Fosse perform a synchronised routine, which Scanlon and Gu will be taking inspiration from.

Scanlon also shared a video of her singing the song to the camera, while Gu can be seen in the background on the phone.

She said: “He’s doing calls. I’ve been here since 8 o’clock and I’ve literally just managed to get my feet strapped up and we are ready to go.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues this weekend on BBC One.
