Irish sports personality Anna Geary has announced the birth of her first child with husband Kevin Sexton.

Sharing a photo of the newborn clutching her and her husband's fingers, the ex-camogie player and former Ireland's Fittest Family coach posted on social media to announce the birth.

"Ah, some news," she began, as she shared that she welcomed a newborn son.

"Arrived slightly ahead of schedule, he couldn't wait to get here, Welcome to the world, Ronan Sexton," Geary wrote in the Instagram post revealing the newborn's name and birthdate of August 1.

Geary had continued working up until her due date, noting that she felt privileged to be able to do so.

In anticipation of delivering her first baby, Anna described experiencing a whirlwind of emotions.

"Obviously, I’m really excited and I’m really grateful too that I can work because I still have the feeling that I love to do that. But there is that feeling of the nerves setting in as well yeah, it’s just a whirlwind."

Anna became engaged to her now-spouse in 2018, admitting she was surprised when he proposed, saying: “I was totally blindsided by it so it was nice to let it sink in. And that was lovely because the second we told people the questions were rolling in, what date will it be, what sort of dress will you wear!”

In an intimate ceremony in January 2019 at her local church, Anna and Kevin married surrounded by close family and friends.

The All-Ireland camogie champion previously gained fame as a coach on RTÉ's Ireland's Fittest Family.

She has since become a popular media figure and published author.

Geary's announcement prompted an outpouring of congratulations from fans and famous friends delighted by the news.
