The GAA community in Co Kildare has been left "devastated" following the death of a young referee and former player.

Hanna Webb, from the Allen area, died on Tuesday, and her funeral is due to take place at Allen's Church of the Holy Trinity on Saturday.

In a statement, Allenwood GFC said Ms Webb had refereed Go Games for its underage teams last year.

"She was a very competent referee and had a great way with all the kids. She also played alongside many of our club members as part of Na Fianna Ladies underage teams. Her loss is devastating for her heartbroken family and we know the entire community will come together to support them at this extremely difficult time."

Ms Webb was also involved with Ballyteague GFC.

"Hanna was heavily involved with our Little Larks firstly as a coach and then as a referee," a club spokesperson said.

"The club and community are rallying around the Webb family at this difficult time. We are keeping them as well as Hanna’s extended family and friends in our thought and prayers."
