SHARKNADO actress Tara Reid is such great friends with pop duo Jedward that the Irish twins have introduced her to their granny.
Jedward, aka John and Edward Grimes, revealed they took Tara on a trip all around Ireland and hosted her at the Grimes family home for a month.
They said: “Our granny thought she was Marilyn Monroe. She had a diamond watch, and we said that the Queen gave that to Tara. But it was really cool, our granny really liked her and we took her all around Ireland.”
They initially struck up a friendship after they lived together in the Celebrity Big Brother house in the 2011 series.
The twins, who have a cameo in Sharknado 3, backed up co-star Tara’s call for a future Sharknado movie to be filmed in the UK – or Ireland.
They revealed they’d accepted their roles in Sharknado for posterity’s sake: “We’re best friends with Tara, so it made sense for us to be in the movie, so it’s something we can talk about when we’re all 80 and tell our children and grandkids.”
Jedward will also be taking a souvenir shark from the set – and they plan to turn it into a laundry basket.
Edward explained that it would work because the shark faces upwards: “There’s teeth and you can throw stuff down it.”
And it seems the pair are well-prepared for a sharknado, which is a fictional weather phenomenon combining sharks and tornadoes. The phenomenon was first seen in SyFy’s made-for-TV disaster film Sharknado in 2013, a surprise hit with viewers which has just been confirmed for another sequel: Sharknado 4.
“In a sharknado I would make sure that my hair was intact and I had enough hairspray to survive it, because I wouldn’t want my hair going this way and that way,” John explained. “And I would make sure our dogs were OK – we’ve got, like, 10 dogs.”
Edward added: “I think a shark seeing two twins, it would kind of mess with their minds. They’d be like: ‘What’s going on?’.”
The pop duo also composed the film’s theme song, Oh Hell No, featuring lyrics such as: “Ay One By One, I’ll Beat You Down, Oh Hell No, Oh Hell No.”
“It’s a very good workout song,” Jedward explained, adding: “And the biggest workout you have in your life is going through a sharknado.”
Sharknado 3 airs on Syfy on July 23 at 10pm.
