A former head of Sinn Féin's London office is to take up a new post with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, according to reports.

Jayne Fisher is said to be joining Mr Corbyn's team as head of "stakeholder engagement" next month.

A spokesman for the Labour leader said: "We do not comment on staffing matters".

It is understood Ms Fisher has not worked for Sinn Féin for several months.

She is part of the TUC's international committee.

Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has previously spoken of his support for Mr Corbyn.

Following Mr Corbyn's re-election as Labour leader in September Mr Adams said: "Jeremy has been a stalwart friend to Ireland and of the Irish peace process for decades".
