A person has been rescued in the Ballycastle area after being spotted in danger of falling from a 150ft cliff.

The operation took place in the Clare Road coastal area on Sunday evening following reports of a casualty stuck on a cliff face.

Coastguard teams from Ballycastle and Coleraine arrived at the scene to find the person clinging to a narrow ledge close to the top of the cliff and "in immediate danger of falling".

A spokesperson for the Coleraine Coastguard said: "A rope rescue technician was lowered down the cliff face and secured the casualty before they were both winched to the cliff top. Thankfully the casualty was uninjured."
