Man arrested in connection with Belfast stabbing

A man has been arrested by police in connection with a stabbing in the outskirts of north Belfast.

The attack happened in the Whitewell Road area on Monday shortly after midnight.

Police said the victim, aged in his 60s, suffered "multiple stab wounds".

"He was taken to hospital for injuries which are described as serious," a PSNI spokesman said.

“A 64 year old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody at this time.

“Enquiries are ongoing and detectives would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to the incident  to contact 101."
